An Orange man has been arrested following a report of harassment.
On Sept. 19, Orange County Deputies responded to a report of harassment and threats at a residence. It was determined that Jonathan Neil Chewning, 32, of Orange had made repeated harassing phone calls and threatening messages to the person making the complaint, including threats of violence. While warrants were being obtained, Chewning returned to the residence and deputies observed behavior consistent with drug use and located a firearm and narcotics.
Chewning was arrested and charged with threats in writing; harassment over an airway; causing a telephone to ring to annoy; possession of schedule I/II narcotics; possession of drug paraphernalia; carrying a concealed firearm without a permit; possession of a firearm while in possession of schedule I/II narcotics and driving under the influence of drugs. He was transported to the Central Virginia Regional Jail where he is being held.
Chewning was scheduled to appear in Orange County General District Court last week with a bond hearing in Orange County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Oct. 1.
