A Barboursville man has been arrested following a violent assault.
On Aug. 1, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to several 911 calls regarding a violent assault in progress in Barboursville. An initial report stated a subject threatened to burn a residence down, but deputies learned about two separate assaults that had occurred as part of the same incident. Two victims were located, one with minor injuries and the second with serious injuries.
Suspect Kenneth Wayne Whorton, Jr., 33, of Barboursville was taken into custody and charged with felony malicious wounding, felony child endangerment, felony threats to bomb or burn, assault and battery, assault and battery against a family member, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disorderly conduct.
According to law enforcement, Whorton later became unruly when appearing before the magistrate. He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail and is expected to appear in court Aug. 26.
