Hornet Sports – Week of May 22

Orange County High School sports updates

Softball

The Lady Hornets won two, beating Goochland 10-1 May 19 and Monticello 1-0 Tuesday. Orange will travel to Madison Wednesday after presstime, Charlottesville Friday and Fluvanna May 26. 

Baseball

The Hornets fell to Goochland May 15, 6-2, but beat Monticello Tuesday, 12-1. The team was scheduled to visit Madison Wednesday after presstime, will head to Charlottesville Friday and will host Fluvanna May 26 at 7 p.m.

Girls Soccer

The girls soccer team beat Goochland May 15, 2-0, but fell to Monticello May 19, 1-0.

Boys Soccer

Orange lost to Goochland 1-0 May 15 and to Monticello 5-0 May 19. 

Boys Lacrosse

The boys lacrosse team lost to Goochland 14-12 May 16 and to Monticello 12-7 May 20. The team was scheduled to host Fluvanna Wednesday after presstime. 

Girls Lacrosse

The girls team beat Goochland May 16, 16-5, but fell to Monticello May 20, 16-4. The team was scheduled to visit Fluvanna Wednesday after presstime. 

Boys Tennis

The Hornets lost to Goochland May 15, 9-0 and to Monticello Tuesday 8-1. 

Girls Tennis

The girls tennis team beat Goochland 9-0 May 15 and Monticello on the road Tuesday, 6-3. 

Track

Several Hornets competed in the Jefferson District Outdoor Track and Field Championship May 12 in Crozet. For the boys, David Norman finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.27 and second in the 200 meter dash, 22.87. Uriah Dulaney finished third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.78. Norman finished first in the long jump with a distance of 20-6.5, followed by Cemadric Washington in second with a distance of 20-0. Norman finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 43-3. Brandon Testa finished first in the shot put with a distance of 55-0. 

For the girls, Kavoni Jones finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.39. Ava Washington finished third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 54.09. 

The VHSL 4D Region Championship is scheduled for May 27.
