Anderson announced as LGPS Assistant Principal

OCHS graduate returns to roots

Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Kristen Anderson to the district’s administrative leadership team as the assistant principal at Locust Grove Primary School. Bringing a diverse background in instructional coaching, curriculum development, and student advocacy, Ms. Anderson, a 2013 Orange County High School graduate, joins the division with a proven track record of supporting both educators and students.

Ms. Anderson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Educational Studies from Mary Baldwin University before completing a Master of Arts in Teaching. In 2022, she furthered her leadership development by earning a Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership from William & Mary.

Her career in education began teaching middle school mathematics in Staunton City Schools before she continued her work in Stafford County Public Schools. Recognizing her expertise in instructional strategy, she later transitioned into roles as a mathematics specialist at both the middle and elementary school levels. In these positions, she provided vital instructional coaching and professional development, collaborated on the development of mathematics and intervention curricula, and supported teachers division-wide to strengthen student achievement.

Beyond general education, Ms. Anderson has also served as a special education teacher in an alternative educational setting, where she supported students with diverse academic and behavioral needs. Her well-rounded school leadership experience also includes serving as a middle school athletic director, coaching softball, and working as an elementary testing coordinator.

Throughout her career, Ms. Anderson has demonstrated a strong commitment to instructional excellence, collaborative leadership, and student success. “I am passionate about empowering educators, fostering positive school cultures, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive,” she noted.

OCPS invites the entire Cardinals community to join them in celebrating this exciting appointment and welcoming Ms. Kristen Anderson back home to her new administrative leadership role.
