Mountaineer Sports – Week of May 22

Madison County High School sports updates

Softball

The Lady Mountaineers lost to Strasburg Monday, 12-2. The team has a host of games coming up, due to two games being rescheduled last week for weather. Madison will host Orange Wednesday after presstime, followed by a matchup against Rappahannock Thursday at 6 p.m. and a visit to Clarke Friday at 5 p.m.

Baseball

The team beat Strasburg on the road Monday, 10-4. Madison was set to host Orange Wednesday after presstime and will travel to Rappahannock Thursday at 6 p.m. and Clarke Friday at 5 p.m. Both are games that were rescheduled due to weather that occurred earlier this month.

Girls Soccer

The girls fell to Clarke May 16, 1-0 and Strasburg Monday 2-1. Up next is a trip to Rappahannock Thursday at 6 p.m.

Boys Soccer

The team fell to Strasburg Monday 3-2. Madison will host Rappahannock Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and travel to Clarke Friday at 7 p.m. The two games were rescheduled from earlier this month.

Track

The Mountaineers competed in the Clarke County Home Meet last week. For the boys, Jude Wynham finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.70. Evan Roberts finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.28. De’Avis Porter finished first in the discus with a distance of 138-9 and first in the shot put with a distance of 43-2. Jonah Adams finished second in the discus with a distance of 113-11 and third in the shot put with a distance of 33-2. 

For the girls, Chloe Rosado finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.88, followed by Ava Hawkins in third, 18.07. Brighton Johnston finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.76 and second in the 400 meter with a time of 1:07.15. Miranda McDaniel finished second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:47.56. The girls 4×800 meter relay team finished first with a time of 11:49.58. Rosado finished first in the high jump with a height of 4-0. Hawkins finished third in the discus with a distance of 82-9 and third in the shot put with a distance of 21-4.

The Bull Run District Championships were scheduled for Wednesday at Strasburg.
