Mineral man arrested in Orange after pursuit

Delays school bus traffic

School buses were delayed Wednesday morning due to a police pursuit.

According to law enforcement, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were attempting to locate a suspect due to a request from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office. Robert Oscar Lemen, 38, of Mineral was located and a traffic stop was attempted, but he fled the scene initiating a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, spike strips were utilized and Lemen attempted to strike a deputy, but collided with a patrol vehicle. He was taken into custody.

Due to the pursuit, nearby Orange County Public Schools were placed on a modified Code Red, resulting in temporary delays to school buses in the area.

Lemen was charged with destruction of property, felony attempted malicious wounding and felony eluding. He is being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
