Wool and Wine Saturday

Coincides with Sheep Dog Trials

Border Collies, sheep and wine will return to Hoover Ridge Saturday for the 9th annual Wool and Wine Festival.

Created in 2017, the one-day event coincides with the annual Sheepdog Trials hosted at the Madison County property. The trials began in 2017 and are held over three-days with dozens of competitors herding sheep through the football field area of the park. The trials will begin each morning, April 24-26 at 7:30 a.m.

The Wool and Wine Festival will be held Saturday, April 25, 11:30-5 p.m. and feature local wines from Blue Quartz Winery and Mountain Run Winery. In addition to tastings which will be available 12-4:30 p.m., wine will be available for purchase by the glass or bottle. Food will be available for sale from Phat Yummies and Mugs & Muffins. Several vendors will be on-site including Feather and Leather Designs, 3-D Prints by Tammy, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, Landon Farm, Magpie Madness, State Climb Culpeper, Paparazzi, Real Keen Lashes and Gypsy Mountain Thrift. Brandy Station Company will provide live entertainment 1-4 p.m. There will also be a supervised children’s area with Big Blue Blocks, mud kitchens, a sandbox, a bounce house and other activities.

Tickets to the Wool and Wine Festival are $15 and include tastings. All guests under 18 are free and adult non-tasting tickets are $5. Guests purchasing tasting tickets or individual wines must be at least 21 and wear their provided wristbands while in the festival area. Pets are not permitted, nor are outside food and drinks. Bring chairs, blankets and tables; anchored pop-up tents are permitted.

Proceeds will benefit the Hoover Ridge Outdoor Recreation Center Project. A groundbreaking for the first half of phase one was held earlier this month. For more information, visit https://www.hooverridge.com/hrorc.html.
