Two traffic stops in Orange County led to rough starts to the new year for suspects.

On January 1, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Justin Neal conducted a traffic stop in the area of Pine Stake Road and Constitution Highway. He was assisted by corporal Smith and K-9 Hary with the dog positively alerting to the odor of narcotics.
During the roadside investigation, suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl was seized from the passenger, Christopher Williams, 43 of Culpeper. Williams was charged with possession of a schedule I/II narcotic and transported to the Central Virginia Regional Jail (CVRJ). His case was certified to the grand jury Wednesday.
On Jan. 4, deputy Jayden Joseph conducted a traffic stop for speeding, 70mph in a 55mph zone. The driver, Johnathan Tibbs, 44 of Unionville, was found to be operating a vehicle on a revoked license for driving under the influence. During a search, deputies located a folded dollar bill containing a substance consistent with cocaine concealed in Tibbs’ sock.

He was taken into custody and held at CVRJ on two felony warrants for possession of a schedule I/II controlled substance and driving with a revoked license due to DUI. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days. He is scheduled to appear in Orange County General District Court Jan. 28.
