The Madison County School Board has a new chairman.
During Monday’s meeting Greg Martz was named chairman of the board. He takes over the role from Nita Collier whose tenure ended in December. Newcomer Graham Davidson was named vice chair. He is one of three new members on the board along with Lauran Gordon and Mitch Dickey. Liz Patterson remains the clerk of the board and Tina Cropp remains the deputy clerk.
As part of the reorganization, members were named as representatives to various boards. Susanna Wood was named representative to the Piedmont Regional Education Partnership (PREP), the family life advisory committee; the special education advisory committee and the diversity, opportunity and inclusion advisory committee. She was named the alternate to the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA), the gifted and talented advisory committee and the technology advisory committee. Martz was named as representative to the Blue Ridge Virginia Governor’s School (BRVGS) board, the VSBA and the Hall of Fame committee. He is the alternate to PREP, the CTE committee, the family life advisory committee, the parent/community partnership advisory committee and the diversity, opportunity and inclusion advisory committee. Gordon was named as the representative to the joint county and school capital improvements plan committee, the board of supervisors and the gifted and talented advisory committee. She will be the alternate to the Hall of Fame committee. Davidson was named the representative to the athletic advisory committee and parent/community partnership committee. He is the alternate to the capital improvement plan committee. Dickey is the representative to the CTE committee and technology committee. He is the alternate to the BRVGS, board of supervisors, special education committee and athletic committee.
