A man who splits his time between Madison and Greene counties has been sentenced on child pornography charges.

According to law enforcement, in March 2025, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit received information regarding an individual who had downloaded images of a sexual nature involving juveniles. An investigation ensued and a search warrant was issued for Steven Kyle Edward Smith, 33, of Madison County and Ruckersville. Smith’s temporary residence in Madison County was searched. Smith was later located and apprehended in the Town of Culpeper.
In August, a Greene County Grand Jury indicted Smith on two counts of possession of child pornography; two counts of object sexual penetration of a victim less than 13 years old; two counts of filming pornography with a victim less than 15; and two counts of sodomy of a victim less than 13 years old.
In October, Smith pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement. On Tuesday he was given four life sentences with an additional 60 years.
