The Somerset Steam & Gas Engine Association will host its 50th Pasture Party this weekend.
The three-day event will take place Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 13 at Fairfield View Dairy Farm in Somerset with antique cars and tractors, demonstrations, live music, vendors and the popular steam cooked beans.
This year’s show features antique tractors, steam and gas engines, a flea market and arts and crafts, as well as the popular sawmill demonstration, the steam shed, threshing bailing, corn chopping, the excelsior and shingle mills, steam plowing and more.
Hammaville will provide live music Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by James Tamelcoff and Band 2-5 p.m. and Austin Boggs Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sawmill demonstrations will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday and Sunday and 10 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. Saturday. Threshing will occur at 1:30 p.m. Friday, 12 and 3 p.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday. Corn chopping will occur at 2 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. The Excelsior Mill demonstration will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Plowing will occur at 3 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tug for fun will occur at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Children will enjoy a kiddie pedal pull Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and a parade will occur at noon. A special worship service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday. The prony brake will be demonstrated throughout all three days.
Equipment registration will be held Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration will be completed at the Mack Shack.
Gates are open Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to dusk and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gate donations are $15 each, cash preferred. Children ages 12 and under are free. For more information, visit https://www.somersetsteamandgas.org/pasture-party.
