A new park opens next week in Orange County.
On Sept. 23, the ribbon will be cut for Mountain Track Park. The park is the newest of the county’s parks and recreation facilities. It was initially included in the Winter 2021-22 draft Parks and Recreation Facilities Game Plan as one of six project ideas and later refined by Timmons Group. The first phase of construction was awarded last March at a cost of approximately $598,000.
When it opens next week, Mountain Track Park will include wooded trails and a technical-style disc golf course. The course will be the second disc golf course in Orange County, but different in its heavily-wooded nature, multiple tee locations and technical layout. The Mountain Track course offers more challenging game play than its family and beginner friendly counterpart at the Thomas E. Lee Industrial Park.
The park is being completed in phases. Future plans include a picnic shelter which will be available for rentals and a playground. Plans are also underway to expand trails into longer paths.
The park is located at 17167 Mountain Track Road in Orange. The ribbon cutting will be held Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. followed by an open house until 6 p.m.
