UPDATE: On Tuesday afternoon, park officials announced they were suspending the search for Bennett.
“Investigators have found no evidence that Mr. Bennett is within the park’s boundary,” officials said.
Park officials are seeking the whereabouts of a hiker in the park.
Shenandoah National Park released a social media post Monday alerting viewers to a missing person. Michael “Deric” Bennett was last seen Feb. 27 in Centreville. Coworkers believe he may be hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Bennet is described as a caucasian male, 42 years old, who is 6 feet tall and weighs 190lbs. He has brown hair, a dragon skeleton tattoo on his back and tribal print tattoos on his shoulders.
