A new fundraiser is supporting the Hoover Ridge Outdoor Center Project.
Madison County Parks and Recreation is hosting “Color the Ridge,” to raise funds for the ongoing project. Once completed, the center will occupy approximately six acres of the more than 181-acre park property and include basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, an inclusive and accessible playground, a splash pad, and a new hockey rink, walking path, shady structures and restrooms.
“Color the Ridge” allows supporters to make a permanent impact on the park project through their art. Participants purchase ceramic tiles which they then paint. The tiles will be part of a wall installed at the entrance to the park’s new playground. The idea is to create “whimsical, nature-themed designs that will become part of Hoover Ridge for years to come.”
Three hundred 4×4 tiles are available for purchase. Each tile is $100 with an additional $25 to have them grouped by family. For those opting to attend a paint event, parks and recreation provides the paint, brushes, markers and other design materials. Paint events will be held Friday, July 24, 5-7 p.m. and Sunday, July 26, 2-5 p.m. at the Oaks Performing Arts Center at Hoover Ridge.
Supporters also have the option to purchase tiles and paint them offsite with their own acrylic paint.
