Music in the Park starts Saturday

Series runs monthly through Oct. at Hoover Ridge

Music will once again fill Hoover Ridge this summer beginning Saturday with Larry Keel Experience.

The award-winning flat-picking bluegrass guitarist and singer/songwriter from Appalachia will kick off Music in the Park, the summer concert series, Saturday, June 13. The series will continue with shows monthly through October. This is a longer than usual series, five shows instead of the usual three.

In addition to Larry Keel in June, modern retro band AP Project will take the stage July 25, Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band Street Survivors Aug. 15, Gone Country Sept. 19 and 90s and 00s alternative rock band Brisk Oct. 16.

All shows are held 5-9 p.m. at the Oaks within Hoover Ridge with the exception of the June and July shows which will begin at 4:30 p.m. Each event will have a food truck on-site, as well as wine, beer, cider and seltzer sales. There will be a supervised activity area for children. Tickets for the August through October shows are $15 early bird and $20 after. Tickets for the June show are $25. Children under the age of 18 are free.

The July show serves as the date of a new seafood festival at Hoover Ridge. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with the seafood fest from 4-7 p.m. All-you-can-eat blue crab and steamed shrimp tickets are available for $60 per adult until July 19 when they increase to $70. Youth ages 10-18 are $30 and children under 10 are free. Hot dogs and corn on the cob are included in the ticket price. Seafood will be provided by Reamy Seafood.

A summer pass is available for all shows. The price is $122.78 including an $8.89 fee. The concert series is sponsored by Nest Realty, Cardinal Home Center and L&D Coates. All proceeds benefit the Hoover Ridge Outdoor Recreation Center project.
