A Madison man has been arrested following a high-speed pursuit on U.S. 29.
According to law enforcement, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dylan Guizar initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling 88 mph in a 60 mph zone on U.S. 29 without illuminated tail lights. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit began. During the pursuit, speeds exceeded 100 mph with the vehicle crossing the double solid yellow line multiple times. The pursuit continued onto Fairground Road, Orange Road and Oak Park Road. As the vehicle approached Beahm Town Road it left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, Mason Mozie, 20 of Madison, was arrested and charged with felony eluding, reckless driving by speed, failure to maintain lane and running a stop sign.
