Two Orange residents were arrested Friday, concluding a month-long investigation.
Rion J. Ward, 47, and Zakiyya D. Ward, 42, were arrested Friday following a month-long investigation by the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force. According to law enforcement, officers executed a search warrant in the 13000 block of Kendall Road in Orange County. As a result, 600 grams of cocaine (street value $60,000), 121 grams of marijuana (street value $3,000), three firearms (valued at $1,500 collectively) and $32,920 in U.S. currency was seized.
Rion Ward was charged with a third offense possession with intent to distribute schedule I/II narcotics; possession of a firearm while in possession of schedule I/II narcotics; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Zakiyya Ward was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I/II narcotics and possession of a firearm while in possession of schedule I/II narcotics. Both were taken into custody without incident and are being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
The Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from sheriff’s departments in Culpeper, Fauquier, Orange, Madison and Rappahannock counties, along with personnel from police departments in the towns of Culpeper, Warrenton and Orange, as well as the Culpeper Field Office of the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
