Bill Price, chairman of the board of both Madison Wood Preservers, Inc. and Cardinal Home Center, will share information about the creation and operation of both businesses. Madison Wood Preservers, also know as Madison Wood, was created in 1959 by Price’s father and four business partners. The business has continued to thrive with an approximately 180,000 square foot facility capable of treating more than one million board feet of lumber daily. In 2023, Price took on the role as chairman of the board and advisor, turning the CEO role to grandson John Michael Price.

Cardinal Home Center is also thriving. It was created in 1989 by Bill Price as a division of Madison Wood before hopping across U.S. 29 and rebranding as MWP Supply, Inc. offering hardware, building materials and tools to Madison County and beyond. In 2019, the business combined with Blue Ridge Builders Supply and two years later became Cardinal Home Center.

Price will share information about both businesses in his talk Sunday. In addition to his business acumen, Price is a lifelong Madison County resident, a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama. He taught for three years at Madison County High School before beginning work at Madison Wood Preservers in 1972. He is also a trustee of Hebron Lutheran Church and a trustee emeritus of both Fork Union Military Academy and the Germanna Community College Educational Foundation.

The Madison County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Madison County Administration Building at 414 N. Main Street. The public is invited to attend.
