Border Collies, sheep and wine will return to Hoover Ridge Saturday for the 8th annual Wool and Wine Festival.
Created in 2017, the one-day event coincides with the annual Sheepdog Trials hosted at the Madison County property. The trials began in 2017 and are held over three-days with dozens of competitors herding sheep through the football field area of the park. Saturday’s trials will begin at 8 a.m.
The Wool and Wine Festival will be held Saturday, April 26, 12-5 p.m. and feature local wines from Blue Quartz Winery, Mountain Run Winery and Prince Michel Vineyards. In addition to tastings, wine will be available for purchase by the glass or bottle. The Mi Ranchito food truck will be on-site. Waking Napster, a band playing party music from the 90’s and 00’s with some 70’s and 80’s mixed in, will play 1-4 p.m. There will also be vendors and a supervised children’s area with Big Blue Blocks, mud kitchens, a sandbox, a bounce house and other activities.
Tickets to the Wool and Wine Festival are $20 and include tastings. All guests under 18 are free and adult non-tasting tickets are $5. Guests purchasing tasting tickets or individual wines must be at least 21 and wear their provided wristbands while in the festival area. Pets are not permitted, nor are outside food and drinks. Bring chairs, blankets and tables; pop-up tents are permitted along the fenceline in designated areas.
Proceeds will benefit the Hoover Ridge Outdoor Recreation Center Project. A groundbreaking for the first half of phase one was held earlier this month. For more information, visit https://www.hooverridge.com/hrorc.html.
