The Somerset Steam & Gas Engine Association will host its 49th Pasture Party this weekend.

The three-day event will take place Friday, Sept. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 14 at Fairfield View Dairy Farm on Rt. 231 in Somerset with antique cars and tractors, demonstrations, live music, vendors and the popular steam cooked beans.
This year’s show features antique tractors, steam and gas engines, a flea market and arts and crafts, as well as the popular sawmill demonstration, the steam shed, threshing bailing, corn chopping, the excelsior and shingle mills, steam plowing and more. This year’s feature is “The Workhorse Behind the Show,” the association’s Gopher.
Austin Boggs will provide live music Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, followed by James Tamelcoff and Band 1-5 p.m. Dark Hollow Bluegrass Band will take the stage Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sawmill demonstrations will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday and Sunday and 10 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. Saturday. Threshing will occur at noon and 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Corn chopping will occur at 2 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 and 3 p.m. Sunday. The Excelsior Mill demonstration will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Plowing will occur at 3 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tug for fun will occur at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Children will enjoy a kiddie pedal pull Saturday at 11 a.m. and a parade will occur later at 1:30 p.m. A special worship service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday. The prony brake will be demonstrated throughout all three days.
In addition to the steam cooked beans the show is known for, foodies will find lots of options including ribeye steak sandwiches from the Wolftown Ruritan Club, pizza from Fabulous Food, LLC, comfort food from Whistlestop Grill, Jake’s Kettle Corn, Sweet Snow snowcones, homemade ice cream from Bolt Milling Co., barbecue from Country Boys BBQ, lemonades and cream sodas from Cruisin Brewz LLC, sweet treats from Meme’s Treat Shop, latin favorites from CubaMex LLC and pretzels from Anderson’s Handcrafted. Breakfast is offered daily 8 to 10:30 a.m.
Equipment registration will begin Friday at 8 a.m. and go through 5 p.m. Registration will be completed at the Mack Shack. New this year, the main entrance gate will be off Jacksontown Road with spectator parking there as well.
Gates are open Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to dusk and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gate donations are $15 each, cash preferred. Children ages 12 and under are free. For more information, visit https://www.somersetsteamandgas.org/pasture-party.
