Music, movies return to park

Cover bands, family movies on summer schedule

Music will once again fill Hoover Ridge this summer. 

Music in the Park, the summer concert series, will kick off Saturday, June 28 with Brisk Band. This is the cover band’s first time playing Music in the Park. The band offers 90’s and 2000’s hits. The series will continue Saturday, July 26 with Gone Country. The Richmond-based band offers neotraditional country music. In August, the concert series will wrap with Street Survivors, A Lynyrd Skynyrd Experience Saturday, Aug. 16.

All shows are held 5-9 p.m. at the Oaks within Hoover Ridge. Peppers Grill Food Truck will be on-site for the June and August shows with Mi Ranchito at the July show. In addition to the food truck delectables, beer, hard cider, wine and spiked seltzers will be available for purchase. Children will enjoy a supervised activity area with a bounce house, crafts, game and more.

Tickets for the shows are $15 early bird and $20 thereafter. Children under the age of 18 are free. A pass which gains entry into all three shows is available for $30. The concert series is sponsored by Nest Realty. All proceeds benefit the Hoover Ridge Outdoor Recreation Center project.

Also upcoming at Hoover Ridge this summer is the continuation of the free Movies in the Park series. “Indian Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark” will be shown June 26, followed by “Wicked” July 25 and “Moana 2” Aug. 15. Movies begin at dusk. Guests should bring blankets and chairs. Pets are not permitted. 

During the July movie, Mi Ranchito will be on-site selling food. The event is being sponsored by Madison Youth Cheer. Peppers Grill Food Truck will be on-site during the August movie, which also marks Family Night Out with family games and activities and a bounce house beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.hooverridge.com/moviesinthepark.html.

Parks and recreation will celebrate Hoover Ridge’s birthday July 27, 2-6 p.m. Enjoy volleyball, cornhole, bocce ball, badminton and other activities, as well as a sandbox and mud kitchen for littles and a bounce house. Madison Emergency Services Association (MESA) will collect food pantry items.
