Federal funding secured for Orange project

Vindman announces $800,000 for liquid feed building

Federal funding has been secured for a project in the Town of Orange.

Last month, Seventh District Congressman Eugene Vindman announced that $800,000 has been secured to update the town’s water treatment process. The funds will be used to construct a liquid feed building, modernizing the water treatment process. The upgrade will reduce reliance on dry chemicals, improve treatment reliability and bring the town’s system in line with neighboring localities.

“The Town of Orange has a clear and urgent need to modernize its water treatment system to ensure reliable, high-quality drinking water for residents,” Vindman said. “Building a liquid feed facility will bring the town’s water treatment process up to current standards, reduce supply disruptions, and guarantee that the town’s infrastructure is on par with neighboring localities. I appreciate the town’s leadership for prioritizing this investment in addressing critical, century-old infrastructure, and I’m proud to support this next step to strengthen water quality and reliability for the community.”

The funding was secured as part of a House-passed fiscal year 2026 appropriations package through the community project funding process which allows members of Congress to request targeted federal investments for local projects.

The liquid feed building has been in the works for some time. The town’s director of finance Dianna Gomez said she’s particularly proud of the grant funding.

“It puts an important infrastructure item on the map to be dealt with,” she said.

The project, estimated at $1 million, was listed among the top projects on the town’s draft capital improvement plan list. A planning commission public hearing on the draft was held Monday. No one spoke.
