After last year’s successful fundraiser recognizing women authors, this year the Friends of the Library is recognizing authors of mysteries and thrillers. Starting April 1 and running the entire month, you will find quart canning jars on the counter tops inside the library. Each jar represents an author with a cover from one of their books. Members of the FOL and the library staff narrowed down the more than 100 candidates to just 25 authors of mysteries and thrillers.
To vote for your favorite authors simply purchase tickets from the library staff and place your tickets in the appropriate jars. Each ticket or vote is $1. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to purchase more books for the library.
If you have a favorite author of mysteries or thrillers for whom you don’t find a jar, you may vote for your own “write-in” candidate. Just put your author’s name on the ticket and place it in the jar labeled especially for write-in candidates. Authors range from Agatha Christie and Carolyn Keene who wrote “Nancy Drew” to Vince Flynn and Daniel Silva. You may vote as often as you wish. Last year the winner was decided on the final day as ardent fans voted repeatedly.
At the end of April we will tally the tickets and see which authors have earned the most money for the library, based on your votes. We will post the results on the library Facebook page and on signage inside the library.
