More than $2,000 was raised by the local community to say goodbye to one of its own.

Last week, Etlan residents came together following the passing of Robert Reid. Reid, who suffered from epilepsy, spent his time doing odd jobs and could often be found on the porch of the Little Country Store. Melony Myers and Kylie McCoy said he was friendly, someone who would help anyone, often greeting store customers and unloading supplies.
McCoy created a fundraiser to assist with Reid’s funeral. That fundraiser was quickly a success, exceeding the $2,000 goal with 21 donors collectively contributing $2,235.
“My community was able to come together and pay Robbie’s funeral expenses in full,” McCoy said. “To everyone who donated, I can’t thank you enough. The Etlan community showed up for him the way he showed up for us. I’m sure Robbie would be looking down smiling knowing how much he truly was loved.”
Reid will be cremated and buried in Criglersville.
