A Rhoadesville native has been called up to the big leagues.
On Tuesday, the New York Yankees announced right-handed relief pitcher Bradley Hanner has been recalled from the AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He takes the spot of Kervin Castro who has been added to the 15-day injured list with a right elbow issue. Hanner, 27, of Rhoadesville has been in Scranton for a year and was a 21st round pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2019. He played for affiliates of the Twins until being selected by the Cleveland Guardians in 2022 where he played for affiliates until signing a minor league contract with the Yankees in 2025. With Scranton in the beginning of the 2026 season, he earned a 2.10 ERA . In July the Yankees signed Hanner to a major league contract and optioned him back to Scranton, before his recent promotion.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office congratulated Hanner on being named to the 40-man roster.
“Congratulations Bradley,” the office said via social media. “Orange County is proud of you and we’ll be cheering you on as you continue chasing the dream.”
Hanner graduated from Orange County High School in 2017 and was a standout on the Hornet mound. However, he isn’t the first Hornet to play professional baseball. Brothers G.L. and Larry Haney both played for a number of seasons as well as Larry Haney’s son, Chris Haney.
